Designed and manufactured in the Cotswolds by a family-run firm, this gorgeous new charger is big on performance (yet smaller than a sheet of A4 paper), and available in up to 107 colour combinations (Home 7 Plus).

  • Type 2

Almost all EVs (2018 onwards), and most public chargers across the UK and Europe, use Type 2 connectors. Unlike Type 1, Type 2 connectors have a locking pin to keep the cable in place during charging to prevent tampering.

    Tethered

Just like a petrol pump, tethered chargers have a charging cable permanently attached to the charging unit. Some drivers find this convenient as it cuts down on cable wrangling. Simply pull up, plug in, and put your feet up!

    Untethered

Untethered chargers – also called ‘socketed’ chargers – have a charging socket rather than an integrated charging cable. Some customers find them to be neater. You’ll have to supply your own cable (around £100-£150).

  • Solar ready

Solar ready chargers can be integrated with solar panel systems, providing you with the option to charge up your EV for free using solar energy (or a mix of free solar and paid-for grid energy).

  • Smart charging

All chargers sold after 30th June 2022 have smart functionality – the ability to schedule the charging of your electric vehicle during off-peak hours when demand for electricity is lower.

  • Charging speed

Most chargers are rated up to 7kW. They provide around 20-30 miles of range per hour or enough to charge the average EV from 10-80% in under 8 hours. They’re ideal for charging your vehicle overnight.

Chargers rated up to 22kW can provide around 90 miles of range per hour – enough to charge the average EV from 10-80% in 2-4 hours. However, 22kW charging requires a 3-phase electricity supply, which is not something commonly found in the average UK home.
